Bulgaria tourism revenue 'to double'
Revenue generated by tourism in Bulgaria is set to double by 2013, according to a new strategy released.
The Bulgarian Tourist Chamber Chairperson Tzvetan Tonchev said that revenue will go over five billion euros (£3.3 million) in the stipulated time period, reports the Sofia Echo.
Additionally, gross tourism for 2007 is set to stand at around 2.2 billion euros, the publication stated.
The plans have been submitted to the State Tourism agency and also claim that on average tourists spend 43 euros a day while in the country.
It is anticipated that this will reach 70 euros by 2013. On top of this, 75% of the overall revenue in the industry is generated by seaside resorts, the body suggested, a number that is expected to fall as more areas gain increased tourism.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the Bulgarian town of Sliven is to boost its infrastructure with more investment.
