Bulgaria 'popular with Britons'

Bulgaria's transformation into a popular holiday destination has helped to attract hundreds of British investors, an expert has said.

Property author Andrew Regan stated that thousands of people from the UK now visited the eastern European country every year for a holiday.

He said this had led to overseas property buyers showing interest in the market, as it offered both the potential for high returns and a desirable location.

Describing Bulgaria as a "Balkan gem", he highlighted many of the factors that had endeared it to foreign investors.

For example, he said the country had year-round appeal, as people could enjoy good beaches and warm temperatures in the summer and go skiing later in the year.

In addition, he stated that budget airlines had helped to make it an affordable location that was easy to reach.

Mr Regan commented: "Bulgaria has undergone an investment revolution over the last decade."

The country became a full member of the European Union at the beginning of 2007.
