Budget flights 'could boost Cyprus investments'

An official at the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) has announced that he will try and increase the number of budget airlines that fly to the country, news which may be of interest to property investors.

Chairman at the CTO Panos Englezos stated that he will attempt to get in contact with more airline companies in the bid to boost the potential of the country for investment, reports Homes Worldwide.

Moreover, greater accessibility to the country would allow overseas buyers and buy-to-let investors to have more options in Cyprus, Mr Englezos commented.

In addition, this will have a positive effect on the overall tourism industry on the island, he said.

The official also wants to see increased spending on advertising the island overseas. According to Mr Englezos, this drive has already seen a "significant increase of arrivals from Greece, Russia and Scandinavia".

Cyprus is the third-biggest island in the Mediterranean and has a population of 855,000.
