Brits abroad advised to stay healthy
Britons planning a trip overseas have been advised that they may need to ensure they have adequate provision in place for their health needs.
According to American Express, 500 Britons leave the UK every day to live and work abroad, with many countries having very different health systems than the one found at home.
However, the company also noted that Britain has reciprocal healthcare agreements with many countries - with those living in France having a full 80 per cent of their costs covered.
Chris Rolland, general manager of UK insurance at American Express Insurance Services, commented: "Moving abroad can be a complicated matter and looking after your health at this time is often the most important concern."
According to the government's Directgov service, UK nationals are advised to find out all of the details regarding their chosen country of residence's healthcare systems before making the move.
