Britons 'to book summer holiday in January'
Many British tourists are booking their summer holidays as early as January, a travel firm has stated.
Lastminute.com said that people were increasingly making arrangements for their breaks much earlier in the year than they had done in the past.
A spokesperson for the firm added that long-haul destinations were proving to be particularly popular among holidaymakers from the UK.
However, she stated that European countries still retained their appeal and were also likely to attract a large number of leisure travellers.
She commented: "Closer to home, we are expecting Italy to carry on doing very well."
This is likely to be a positive development for people with vested interest in the Italian tourist trade, such as property investors who rely on rental income to generate wealth.
According to MyHoliday.com, Italy is one of the countries where tourist accommodation is in particularly strong demand.
The website stated that leisure travellers were so keen to book up the best holiday homes that they were reserving them very early in the year.
