Britons tipped to keep moving abroad

The number of Britons who move abroad each year has been tipped to increase in the near future.

According to AXA, factors such as the current economic downturn in the UK are making the prospect of moving to the sun highly attractive.

The organisation added that a number of financial factors, such as the relatively low cost of living in some destinations, are also contributing to this trend.

European countries were said to be especially popular with Britons, with France for example seeing interest from prospective expats more than doubling in the last year.

Karen Teasdale, spokesperson for AXA, commented: "More and more people are deciding to leave the UK and set up home abroad."

This comes after currency specialist FC Exchange said recent price hikes by energy providers in Britain have led to a surge in the number of retirees enquiring about relocating to the sun.
