Britons take cars overseas

Many Britons are choosing to take their cars with them when travelling overseas, a new study has found.

Research by Vauxhall revealed that places such as France and Spain are very popular with motorists who are taking a holiday abroad.

According to a survey by the car manufacturer, nearly two-thirds of respondents considered driving a good way of finding more about the place they are visiting.

Meanwhile, a similar proportion stated that motoring abroad is an important part of the holiday experience.

Simon Ewart, spokesperson for Vauxhall Motors, commented: "These results reveal just how much Brits enjoy driving abroad."

However, the survey also showed that one in ten British motorists struggle to hang of driving on the other side of the road, while one in four said they get confused by foreign road signs.

This follows a study by AA Personal Loans found that three out of four British consumers intend to use their car during their summer break.

Some respondents said they were opting to shun aircraft this year because they are concerned about the impact aviation has on the environment.
