Britons 'still want to buy abroad'
Property buyers from the UK are still keen to invest in foreign countries, according to industry experts.
The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) stated that demand for overseas property among Britons was high and was expected to remain so during 2008.
This was said to be partly because British buyers were choosing to invest in a diverse range of locations, including both established and emerging markets.
Commenting on the NAEA's conclusions, Vanessa Bird of financial services company Baydonhill stated that countries such as Romania were proving to be especially popular with people from the UK.
She commented: "There are certain destinations across eastern Europe where the markets are still in their infancy and are likely to serve investors well over the coming year."
Ms Bird added that many were opting to look further afield at more exotic countries such as Brazil.
This follows research by Datamonitor which found that people from the UK and Ireland own almost four million homes overseas, collectively worth about £44.4 billion.
