Britons head outside Europe
Owners of rental accommodation outside Europe could be set to see increased demand from British holidaymakers.
Online travel agency Lastminute.com stated that leisure travellers from the UK were increasingly opting to visit less-traditional holiday destinations.
John Bevan, managing director of the company, highlighted the popularity of non-European countries in particular, such as Morocco and the Cape Verde islands.
He commented: "Agadir in Morocco [is] expected to do very well.
"As for up and coming destinations, Cape Verde is an increasingly popular destination."
This suggests that demand for rental accommodation in these countries will go up this year, a development which could prove to be lucrative for investors in popular tourist hotspots.
Mr Bevan added that while many people in the UK have already booked their summer holiday, others are choosing to wait and make a reservation just ahead of their planned departure date.
The findings will be welcome news for Morocco's government, which is currently aiming to boost annual visitor numbers to 10 million by 2010.
