Britons getting 20% gains per year on Moroccan property
Having long been a favourite among back-packing students, the demographics of Morocco's foreign visitors could be changing as more people are attracted by the prospect of second homes in the sun.
According to the Independent, more Britons are buying in Morocco than ever before and have been experiencing capital gains of 20% per year.
Samantha Day of easyJet said that the carrier transports 3,500 passengers a month on its route from Gatwick to Marrakech, and that it plans to expand on that figure. Ms Day also noted that the majority of passengers are either travelling to second homes or looking to buy.
As well as its winter sun and stable economy, Morocco is also attractive to property investments due to its relatively simple property buying law. The law is based on that of France and many investors have previous experience of buying in that country.
In addition to the budget airlines and national carriers, a planned tunnel linking Morocco to Spain will also increase the ease with which Europeans can reach the country.
