Britons becoming more adventurous

Leisure travellers from the UK are becoming more and more adventurous, industry experts have stated.

The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) said that British holidaymakers were increasingly opting to visit more exotic locations.

North Africa was highlighted as a particularly popular destination, especially countries such as Morocco.

Commenting on this trend, ABTA spokesperson Frances Tuke told BBC News: "People are becoming very demanding in their holiday choices."

She added that many consumers now consider foreign holidays as an important part of their lives, so much so that many are cutting back on other expenses such as home improvements in order to afford a trip abroad.

This could be good news for rental investors in major Moroccan hotspots such as Marrakesh, as it means there will be strong demand for temporary lodgings in these areas.

According to government figures, Morocco attracted 7.4 million holidaymakers in 2007.
