British workforce 'willing to move abroad'

More than half of workers in the UK would consider moving abroad to find work, according to a new study.

Research by Manpower has revealed that 53% of the British workforce would be willing to develop their career overseas.

The study also found that the majority of employers in the UK are not concerned about the impact this would have on their business, partly because many companies are already taking on people from other countries.

Commenting on this development, Mark Cahill of Manpower UK said: "Today's labour market has a constant circulation of workers - out of the UK as well as into the country."

He added that many British workers believe a move abroad will allow them to develop new skills and experience new cultures.

According to a study by NatWest, people from the UK could see their salary go up by much as 43% if they move abroad.

The financial provider said the average salary for an expatriate is about £67,000 a year, whereas a person in Britain can expect to earn about £47,000.
