British couple praise Turkish investment
The lifestyle benefits of owning a holiday home in Turkey have been highlighted by a British couple.
Angus and Alison Charity told the Sunday Mail that the country was recommended to them as an alternative to Florida, which they thought was too far away.
Although Mr Charity admitted to having preconceived ideas about Turkey, he said he was impressed after he went on an initial inspection trip and was persuaded to buy a house there.
Speaking to the newspaper, he listed many of the attractions of the region, such as its good scenery, food and the warm climate.
He continued: "Best of all, it is only a few hours flight from Scotland and the property was amazing value."
Mr Charity added that the couple are now considering keeping the house as a long-term investment in order to help fund their retirement.
According to figures from the Turkish Embassy, the country attracted about 19 million tourists last year.
