Brazil attracts more foreign investors
The amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Brazil has gone up this year, new figures have revealed.
According to Brazil's Central Bank, the country received £6.5 billion of investment from overseas between January and April 2008.
This is more than a quarter higher than the amount recorded during the first four months of 2007, reports Brazzil Mag.
More than £2 billion of FDI was received in April alone - 11.5% up on the same point of the previous year.
Much of this investment was found to have come from Spain, as well the United States, Canada, Luxembourg and Portugal.
The Brazilian Central Bank believes the overall amount of FDI for 2008 should come to about £16.3 billion.
According to property analyst Amberlamb, Brazil's gross domestic product is expected to increase by 4.8% this year.
The website said this means that second home buyers who purchase a Brazilian residence could get healthy short-term returns.
