BA to launch new European flights

Overseas property investors in popular European tourist hotspots are set to benefit from the introduction of new flights.

A selection of short-haul routes from the UK to countries such as Spain and Portugal will be launched by British Airways in March 2008.

The airline will offer passage from Heathrow to Malaga, while flights between Gatwick and Alicante will also be launched.

In addition, passengers will also be able to board extra services to destinations including Faro and Palma.

This will be likely to lead to increased tourism in these markets, therefore boosting the demand for rental accommodation among holidaymakers.

Robert Boyle, commercial director at British Airways, commented: "We are opening up these Mediterranean hotspots with our new flights and are confident that they will be very popular with customers."

According to research from Co-operative Travel, European countries such as Spain are set to attract an increased number of Christmas holidaymakers from the UK this year.
