Authorities aim to boost Brazilian tourist trade

Owners of rental accommodation in Brazil could be set to benefit from efforts to boost tourism in the country.

According to Brazzil Magazine, authorities in the South American nation are preparing to launch a new promotional drive.

Tourism institute Embratur hopes that will encourage more overseas leisure travellers to visit Brazil and see what it has to offer.

If the scheme is successful, this would provide a further boost to the Brazilian economy and lead to a surge in rental demand in popular tourist hotspots.

Jeanine Pires, president of the organisation, commented: "Our objective is to expand the flow of foreigners into Brazil and increase the entry of funds in our country by means of international tourism."

The marketing initiative will encompass various media in order to reach potential customers, while representatives of Embratur will also participate in events such as trade fairs and seminars.

According to property analyst Amberlamb, Brazil's gross domestic product is expected to increase by 4.8% this year.

The website said this means that second home buyers who purchase a Brazilian residence could get healthy short-term returns.
