Argentina sees economic growth

Argentina's economy has grown at an unexpectedly high rate in the last year, according to new figures.

Government statistics show that during the year to July 2008, the country experienced growth of 8.3%.

This exceeds the estimates made by a panel of experts in a survey by the Reuters news agency.

Analysts polled by the media group predicted that Argentina would see economic growth of 7.4% during this period.

Indeed, this is an average figure based on individual forecasts, which saw one expert anticipate growth of just 5.1%.

Commenting on the government statistics, Reuters said they showed that Argentina has bounced back from industrial disputes earlier in the year, which led to smaller year-on-year growth figures in June.

The findings could make positive reading for investors who are thinking of buying property in the country.

According to Foreign Property Buyer, the South American country has been tipped to become the "next big hotspot" for investors.
