Argentina Economy Still In Rude Health
Argentina looks likely to remain an attractive location for property investment as the country's economy shows no sign of slowing despite the seemingly-global economic crisis, it has been revealed.
Writing in her newspaper column for Buenos Aires-based publication El Diario, Argentina's president, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, said that only people who "always speak negatively" were predicting a period of economic decline in the South American country, Bloomberg reports.
This viewpoint has been backed up by interior minister Florencio Randazzo, who pointed to a long-standing budget surplus and healthy central bank reserves as reasons for optimism.
Meanwhile, Claudio Moroni, the head of Argentina's tax agency, told Bloomberg that the country is "still seeing a strong level of economic activity and tax collection".
A survey of seven economists conducted by the news provider suggests economic growth in Argentina will slow next year, but will still be at around 3.1%.
Ms Kirchner was sworn in as president in December 2007 after winning 45.29% of the vote in the October 2007 general election.
