American Airlines expands into Brazil

A US-based air carrier has announced that it is planning to expand further into the Brazilian market.

American Airlines confirmed that it will begin offering flights from Miami to destinations including Salvador de Bahia and Recife in November this year.

Services between the Florida-based airport and Belo Horizonte will also be launched at the same time.

Commenting on the move, senior vice president Peter Dolara said the carrier is "very excited" to be offering flights to Brazil.

He remarked: "It is a dynamic country in so many ways, and American's comprehensive schedule puts it all conveniently and easily within reach."

Brazil's aviation sector is set to benefit from further expansion next year when a new airport opens in Natal.

This will be the largest airport in South America and will help improve international access to the north-east of the country, thereby opening up to more tourists and foreign investors.
