Albania recommended to tourists

Holidaymakers who want to visit a peaceful environment have been advised to go to Albania.

The south-eastern European country was recommended by US-based company ShermansTravel.com, which said it was a quieter alternative to the more crowded tourist destinations.

Albania's beaches were highly rated by the firm, as they were "unspoiled" and "spectacular".

ShermansTravel.com said: "Savvy travelers can soak up plenty of sunshine and avoid the crowds that plague the more popular beach spots."

This could mean that Albania would be a good option for second home buyers who do not want to purchase in established tourist markets.

The country was recently recommended to prospective investors by the Foreign Property Buyer website, which praised its scenery and good weather.

Readers of the site were also advised that despite its "chequered" history, Albania had emerged as a stable and democratic country that was hoping to enter the EU.
