Albania attracts more visitors

Visitor numbers in Albania have gone up in the last 12 months, new statistics have revealed.

Official data cited by Southeast European Times showed that during June 2008, the number of foreign arrivals was 20% up on the amount recorded a year earlier.

This is likely to be good news for overseas property buyers who have entered the market, particularly buy-to-let investors.

Growing tourism is likely to impact on rental demand across Albania, which in turn could lead to property owners collecting higher returns.

Ylli Pango, the nation's tourism minister, commented: "More tourists are arriving in Albania this year, and their number has been steadily increasing in the past few years."

He added that increasing the accommodation capacity is one of the main priorities for the Albania tourism sector.

This comes after NuBricks.com revealed that the Balkan country is becoming more and more popular with overseas property investors.

The website said this is because investors believe there is money to be made in the region.
