Airline to launch new European flights

A UK-based airline has announced plans to extend its range of services to other European countries.

Thomas Cook Holidays stated that it would increase the number of flights to countries such as Turkey from Leeds Bradford International Airport.

Other destinations are also set to receive more services from the West Yorkshire transport hub, including Portugal, Cyprus and Spain.

The airline stated that the new flights were being introduced in response to growing demand from people in the region.

This means that these countries are likely to benefit from an increased number of British tourists.

Commenting on the move, Thomas Cook's aviation director James Burrows said: "We recognise the potential for growth at Leeds Bradford Airport and by having a based aircraft we can meet the increased demand of the people in the Yorkshire region."

Demand for rental accommodation in popular tourist areas will be likely to increase as a result, potentially creating new opportunities for foreign property investors.

The news comes after Co-operative Travel estimated that the number of Britons going abroad this Christmas would be 11% higher than last year.
