Airline offers UK-Brazil service

A Brazilian airline has announced the launch of a new service between the South American country and Britain.

The daily flights will be operated by Varig from the end of this month, travelling between London's Heathrow Airport and Rio de Janeiro.

Sao Paulo will also be serviced by the carrier, possibly boosting the tourist trade in all three destinations.

Varig said that the service was being introduced in response to growing levels of tourism and business travel between the UK and the Brazil.

The airline commented: "Now it is much easier to enjoy the variety of places Brazil offers you on your business or leisure travel."

The launch of new flights to Brazil is also likely to be noted by overseas property investors, as this is reflective of continued demand and interest in the country.

Brand Week recently reported that Brazilian tourist authorities were launching a new publicity drive designed to boost the numbers of visitors from the US.
