Airline launches new Romanian services
Low-cost airline Wizz Air has confirmed that it is planning to expand further into the Romanian market.
The budget carrier will launch 15 new routes over the next six months, which will further open up the country to the rest of Europe.
This includes services from London, Dortmund, Rome, Milan and Venice.
Flights from Barcelona, Paris and Valencia will also be added to its schedules, which means Romania will be more easily accessible from many major cities in Europe.
As a result, the country may become a hotspot for foreign investors, such as businesses and second home buyers.
Jozsef Varadi, chief executive officer of Wizz Air, commented: "This expansion is a major step forward for us to gain and sustain market leadership in Romania."
This comes after an adviser to the Romanian government hailed the performance of its economy amid the current financial turmoil.
Rasvan Orasanu told Reuters that the market in the eastern European country is "buoyant" and proving to be highly resilient to external problems.
