Airline chief aims to boost Turkish tourism
Turkey's tourist sector could be in for a major boost if plans to enhance it further come to fruition, according to a media report.
The New Anatolian has revealed that Temel Kotil, director general of Turkish Airlines, wants to add extra services between the country and China.
Although the carrier already operates services to Shanghai and Beijing five times a week, Mr Kotil has said the frequency needs to be higher.
Speaking to the media outlet, he commented: "I will speak to Chinese officials to raise the number of flights."
If he is successful in adding the extra services to its timetables, Turkish Airlines will be able to attract a much larger number of visitors to places such as Istanbul.
China is one of the largest countries in the world and has a huge base of potential visitors to Turkey.
This comes after TravelBizMonitor reported that Turkish Airlines was planning to increase the number of services going to India in an effort to attract more visitors.
