Advice for those driving rental cars abroad

Those travelling abroad have been given new advice regarding taking rented cars overseas by The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA).

It claimed that a growing number of car rental companies are getting requests by consumers to take rental cars abroad.

According to the body, travellers should check that they have the relevant documents and paperwork completed before attempting to carry out such transactions, reports Homes Worldwide.

For security reasons, registration and license documentation is imperative. Once in Europe, a replacement of the vehicle registration document - known as the Vehicle on Hire Certificate - becomes valid, the publication added.

Information previously shown on the registration form is replicated on this form.

Such a document is useable across the whole of Europe and is a universal method to enable more streamlined travelling.

The BVRLA was founded in 1967 in order to promote and protect the interests if its members, it states.
