A third of older Britons are looking to invest abroad
Over a third of Britons over fifty are considering buying a holiday home abroad, with half of those considering a permanent move abroad, research has shown.
The data, obtained by over-50s insurance specialist Saga, is positive news for those looking to invest overseas, who will be able to target ex-pats as well as local markets.
UK investors will be well placed to judge the tastes of their compatriots, with traditional holiday destinations likely to be popular with those looking for more permanent trips abroad as well.
Andrew Goodsell, chief executive at Saga, said: "Spain has always been a popular choice for those looking to purchase a holiday home.
"Its sunnier climes, relatively lower cost of living, cheaper property prices and its close proximity mean it is the perfect choice for those looking to get away for a few weeks each year."
As well as the proximity of Spain, the large number of low-cost flights available from the UK is likely to sustain the popularity of the country for the foreseeable future.
