7.5 million tourists hit Antalya

Around 6.5 million tourists head to Antalya each year, according to the city's governor.

Alaaddin Yuksel made the announcement at a conference in the Mediterranean location, stating that the influx of holidaymakers helps to bring in around £11 million to the area annually, reports Turkish Press.

The official also said that many European visitors choose to make their way to Antalya, with people coming in from Germany, The Netherlands and Russia.

High tourist numbers in the region could be good news for property investors seeking to rent out a holiday home for most of the year in between vacations.

In related news, the city has recently unveiled the latest tourist attraction to keep holidaymakers entertained, as a hot-air balloon company has started operations.

The Kapadokya Balloons Company will run tours over some of the most scenic, historic and beautiful areas around the coastal city, reports Turkish Daily News.
