1 in 10 investors looking to Bulgarian property

As many as 10% of UK investors that are looking to buy overseas consider Bulgaria to be a hot property spot with high potential returns on initial outlay.

Buyers from the North, the West Midlands and Wales are some of the most likely candidates to invest in money abroad, Moneyextra.com reports.

However, industry experts believe that 2007 will be the year in which property investors discover whether their investment was a clever money move.

Paul Collins, the overseas property editor of BuyAssociation said: "Bulgaria has had a huge amount of press and public interest in overseas property.

"2007 will be a key time to see whether those who have invested will make money from the rental side of things."

He explained that the country has a significant growth potential following its admission to the EU earlier this year.

A survey by self-catering-breaks.com found that half of British second home owners were using their investment as retirement funding, so many will be depending on the growth of the Bulgarian rental market.

The same survey found that Brits are more confident than ever before about the overseas property market.
