'1 billion euros' spent on Bulgarian roads
Prime minister Sergei Stanishev and Petar Moutafchiev, transport minister, have said that 1 billion euros (£0.67 million) are set to be invested in the Bulgarian road infrastructure over the coming 6 years.
They were speaking during an inspection of the railway construction works for a line that is set to link Svilengrad with Plovdiv, reports the Sofia Echo.
On top of this investment, 990 million euros are set to be pumped into the subsidy of transport programmes, while 580 million will go to finance the improved development of the country's railways.
The publication added that the Bulgarian transport section has the largest budget out of 7 such drives out of European Union funds.
Additionally, a new highway will be built between Asenovgrad and Plovdiv in 2008, news that may be of interest to potential property investors.
